I'm politically left as they come, passionate about social justice, disgusted with our nation and its dismal policies and gross overconsumption (I've never been in debt), both foreign and domestic. Politics as generally understood don't much interest me; political-economic, psychological, social and cultural theory do.

I've been a painter all my life. (And photographer with darkroom experience.) I worked since a child in traditional media, but now work only in digital media. At one time, I sold my art but greatly disliked the business end. Art can't be commodified--reduced to monetary value. I'm offended when a Van Gogh sells for $75 million, not least because he never got to enjoy it, but also because just plain silly, and a sign of decadent times.

And so, I hold down a part-time job, which allows me freedom to do any kind of art I like. When I stopped selling, I stopped having to pander.
