I love life and have many varied interests. I love reading science fiction/fantasy, watching movies, fencing, live action role play and travel. I have a wonderful 4 year old miniature poodle something who goes everywhere with me.

Although I've traveled many different career paths I inevitably come back to teaching. I've taught everything from kindergarten through college. Three years ago I made a lateral move and became the head library media specialist of a NYC public school. It combines many of my loves and interests. Students, books, learning new things, etc.

I have two kids who I've raised on my own. One in college and the other going next year, although of course college kids come home for lots of vacations and the summer. I have a big puppy who we all love and when the weather is nice I take him for nice runs. When it's cold it's tough so I'm attempting to train him to use the treadmill lol. Love to keep fit, dance, listen to live music, fine dine out (but not too stuffy) or eat home and chill, root for my favorite teams especially my son's . My life is a full, rewarding one as I have a career as a teacher. I am independent, gregarious, and know how to have fun. I enjoy active sports and love the outdoors. I spent ten years working in the cruise industry and have lived in Europe and traveled all over the world.
You can dress me up and certainly take me out! I am comfortable getting down and dirty participating in sports and make a quick change and have a special evening out in no time. I am not a woman who is a recreational shopper, would much rather be doing things like volunteering, active outdoors, attending a cultural event in New York, and hosting a party at a restaurant or my house.

Hi, I registered on this site because I would like to meet a companion in life. I grew up and lived in Ukraine till I was 50.I was a journalist and also i owned a small retail business. I have the only daughter who lives in the States for a while. So, at 50 I made a crazy change in my life- I sold everything and i moved to the States so i can be closer to my daughter. I didn't know one word of English. Now I am a caregiver-I take care of elderly people.It's very different from what i was doing back at home, but i feel that i am doing something good for elderly. Im a computer programmer who turned into a senior IT professional in spite of herself. I cant imagine life without work although I can envision a different type of employment as time goes on. I love music (classical, classic rock, Gilbert & Sullivan), contemporary art, and theater (especially musicals, sorry). I read a lot although its mostly police procedural mysteries these days. Im pretty independent and private but the word that always comes up at work is "approachable".

I'm optimistic, well traveled/educated/read. Enjoy sports/wellness, fireplaces, rain/snow, candles/aromatherapy and the quiet moments alone. I believe sometimes when I am angry, I have a right to be angry, but it does not give me the right to be cruel. That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you have celebrated. I believe you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. I am the quintessential "girl next door".I grew up in a large Irish Catholic family in St. Paul/ Minneapolis and lived most of my life within 4 blocks of 12 of my cousins-I have many more but they lived further away. School, work and life took me to England, Colorado, Texas and now very recently to Connecticut.
