Lived in Europe, mostly Germany, years ago for work, so was able to do a fair amount of traveling then. Looking forward to that again hopefully someday soon. I love living in the city: theaters, restaurants, high energy, shows (scripted and unscripted), and always diversity. I also love weekends in the country, the beach, and exploring new places. In Sept. 2010, my 'roots tour' took me to the Baltics and E. Europe to meet cousins I had never met before, and explored parts of the world my family's from.

A former New Yorker, I am a citizen of the world. I love the little row house I own in Adams Morgans, my favorite neighborhood in Washington. It reminds me of the Village in NYC!

I'm always inquisitive and exploring something. I don't want to live 'the unexamined life'. Well educated (the product of a European education), friends would describe me as sophisticated, funny, articulate, intelligent, artistic, creative, generous, compassionate, and a big animal lover. Basically, I'm a pretty great broad! I'm also known as a good cook who can take you from borscht to greens, and still be culturally correct.

I am kind of a hybrid person. Grew up on a small Vermont farm but have lived in big cities here and abroad since then. My work has focused on enhancing opportunities for kids and finding ways to appreciate and reward all the great things they do on their way to adulthood. Now I am working on the quality of my own life and doing things I haven't had the time to do before: gardening, cooking, traveling (recently to Morocco and Oman), going to movies, visiting friends and family, photographing and making one-of-a-kind books, managing and working on family property. I'd rather let you judge whether I would make a great friend or partner. Ask me what you want to know and I will answer.

I care deeply about a few distinct things: I'm a political/journalism junkie- indeed that was my career for 30 years. I love to play tennis, read, listen to a variety of music, haunt art galleries & museums & have been going to the theater since I was 5 years old! I read lots of periodicals. I've discovered the world of audio books and podcasts listened to on my iPod. Excellent books "Finite and Infinite Games" by J. Carsen, "Happy for No Reason" by M. Shimoff, and "Slow Sex" by Nicole Daedone.

My friends would say that I am comfortable in various settings, am good at what I do and have confidence in myself, am honest, will support my friends, am not afraid to express my opinion, but respect the opinions of others, is a good listener, enjoys small parties, is sometimes shy but enjoys meeting new people, and is a romantic. I like variety, including eating out, walks in the woods 7 hiking, music, movies, museums, plays and new adventures. I sometimes joke that I have traveled to places overseas that most folks would not go even if you paid them. One of my favorite pastimes is kayaking rivers in eastern NC. I have been a public servant, educator, independent consultant, and I continue to perform public service. I like to laugh and make others laugh, I sometimes worry that as a society we have become two serious and that we have lost our ability to laugh at ourself.
