After 30 years on and off ships as an officer in the merchant marine, I have finally come ashore as a self employed naval architect (I design and certify boats). Since this work is usually done in solitude, I am very interested in finding some compatible woman to share my life with. This kind of work leaves one somewhat introspective, but not quite introverted. Lets just say between actor and writer - I would be the writer.

I need someone to remind me of the social graces, enjoy dinners, parties and events, and have conversations on a wide range of topics. I enjoy listening to National Public Radio and university radio stations, which immediately should give you some idea as to my artistic preference and political bent. I like a glass of wine under a sunset sky, conversing about the day, and the occasional beach (or even city) walk. I do most of my own auto repair, plumbing and have found that I can even do some carpentry, but have yet to do a complete renovation.

My big life passion is to provide safe, sustainable, affordable communities for people all over the world--a rather hefty goal but one that I believe can be accomplished in baby steps and I would like to participate in at least one of those baby steps. In the process I hope to be able to satisfy other passions--singing and dancing, fine food and wine, meeting new people, experiencing other cultures, touching lives in any way possible.

I am entering a new phase of my life. I have always been very involved in the community around me, especially volunteering at my daughters' school. Now that they have all graduated I will have to find other volunteer activities since I think its important to give back to the community you live in.

I enjoy being outside exploring the world but equally enjoy being inside watching a movie or attending a performance. I suppose I am simple in what I like and don't like. I don't like to make things overly complicated.

I do try to take care of what I have and take pleasure in quality more so than quantity. My house would never be entered into a best homes guide but I feel proud of the fact that I have done much of the work around the house.

Family is very important and I am eternally grateful that my 3 daughters have grown into impressive young women.

For fun I really love to travel. Both touristy sightseeing trips or purely recreational or a combination of both. When not working or travelling I like to go to movies, cultural events, concerts, plays/theatre shows or comedy shows or the best is smaller restaurants and bars that have live bands performing. I have an eclectic taste in music, Jazz, Rock, Top 40’s, Country, Old School, Chill House, Easy Listening, Hard Rock, R&B, Latin, Reggae and then some. I like to go try different restaurants, people watch and have fun. It’s always more enjoyable when you can do it with someone special or a good friend. I have some good friends that I visit and we can just sit around the yard, talk about anything and everything, eat, have a few drinks or watch a football game or a MMA fight. I like being around and doing things with people who are genuine!!!! I do other things for fun but not on a regular basis, bowling, tennis, racquetball, hike, ski, fish, shoot, ride motorcycles, just about everything.

Very pleasant but shy when first meeting someone. I enjoy
reading, exercise, and most of all love to travel which I
do at least 3 times a year. Would like to do some international traveling with a nice companion. I'm
financially stable and consider that a woman older than
a man is a very compatable relationship. A casual or maybe
a serious relationship if it happens!! My philosophy, "age
is only numbers"!!
