I moved to New Orleans in 2010 when my 95 year old father died and my baby graduated from high school. I create a garden everywhere I live and New Orleans has been no exception. I am also considering putting a chicken coup in the back yard for the eggs. Ha!

Though I am a fifth generation Mississippian the move to New Orleans has been good for me. It keeps me excited about life. My mother was from Arkansas but she left the state when she was a little girl when her father took a job in Mississippi. He was an inventor and hunter--that is to say he was a loner. Very smart. So was my mother.

My father was one of 8 children. Only two are still alive. When I left Mississippi, very few of his extended family still lived in the state. I think that is strange for a family of such deep roots in the state. I'm not sure what it means. Probably nothing. My father's older brother practiced medicine in New Orleans for 50 years so I grew up coming to the city to see my uncle and his family. I so clearly remember the amusement park at Pontchartrain Beach.

I am very interested in current events and watch the news everyday. I love to read, travel, play cards and Mah Jongg. I enjoy pot luck suppers with friends and wine and cheese parties. I am a member of the Red Hat Society and I participate in monthly activities with my group. Sometimes we go to live shows, sometimes the races and sometimes just dinner.

Sailing (proficient and very experienced), golf (badly - duffer, really - but love the game anyway), travel (I have travelled extensively - worked in 59 countries and lived in 7 - but still enjoy it), theater, symphony, literature, opera, dining out or cooking, which I find very relaxing, haunting galleries and museums. I am an optimist by nature; and allergic to drama. Growing up, my mother absolutely demanded that I be a gentleman, and I have never seen any reason to believe she was wrong.
