About me----I am a 61 year old active, healthy woman who is honest, with a good sense of humor, fun--most of the time, pretty romantic and straightforward. I enjoyed being married the first time, knowing someone very well and sharing life. It did not work out for a variety of reasons but I miss being committed to one person. Family is important to me and I am very close to mine, which is large but spread out. We get together frequently. NYC was my home for many years and my daughter and I moved to Portland 11 years ago. Life is good right now but I need to start doing things for myself. My daughter lives at home. I adopted her from Brazil when she was a month old after my divorce many years ago. It was the best thing I have ever done. We have a very close relationship. however, I need more in my life. Write and you'll learn more. First couple of pictures are three years old by the way. Have not changed much.

I have worked as a pre-school teacher's aide, a counselor for psychiatric patients, ran a tennis center, drove a taxi in Boston and New York City and been a fashion model. I was a Conscience Objector to the war in Vietnam.
Now, I volunteer teaching English to African immigrants and refugees, preparing for their citizenship to the United States.

I swim, exercise, play tennis, race sailboats, do yoga and Zumba classes. I enjoy going to museums, watching independent and foreign movies and going to live music in small venues.
I read psychology books, novels, Buddhism and about the Afro-American " experience "

It's about not wasting time...get up , get out..do anything but do something. Need to be outdoors as much as possible when the weather is good even if it's just sitting outside reading...fresh air !!!
