I’m not a religious person. I'm a Humanist, and I believe in the good and potential of mankind. I do occasionally attend the Unitarian Church, both for the philosophy and the extended family. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, a glass of wine with good conversation. My politics are more on the liberal side of things although I like to think I’m quite independent and would be for whatever issue I though was the best for the situation, regardless of party labels.

I am witty, fun loving a bit sarcastic , but not in a mean way. I am passionate about some things, but in general nothing really upsets me anymore. I've found it to be a big waste of time and life. I'm active and very handyman oriented, like to please, . I spent 28 yrs. in Alaska as an engineer in the commercial fishing industry and retired from that while my kids would still talk to me.

To wake up laughing and to go to be exhausted is ideal, but sometimes I go to bed laughing and wake up exhausted. If I were a prize fighter, I'd be a wash-up because in most situations I tend to lead with humor and kindness. I take criticism fairly well because, I think, because I am more critical of myself than most people would care to be mono/mono. I would rather be hurt than to cause others to hurt. I listen fairly well and internalize things told to me, but sometimes I need a direct clue that what's being said is not simple schmoozing but is important, which means my partners/friends/family know not to side-step me when trying to communicate; come at me head-on with the big stuff. For me, that old adage works: "The truth can set you free...it may piss you off, but it can set you free." I am politically/socially liberal and aware, but am not an activist, and I am not religious although there was a time when I once held deep Christian convictions; today I simply hold Christian values which seem to be the values of our culture.

Not looking to get married, looking to share mutual affection and companionship. I love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, exploring, visits to the coast and riding my quad. Love to snuggle, hold hands and not afraid of public displays of affection. Having learned the hard way I am a good listener. I prefer women with long hair, I like to stick out as the one with the shortest hair. I live in my own home in Eugene. I recently had a hip replaced and now that I can be active again I hope to shed the extra weight that I have accumulated over the last two years. I enjoy engaging in many different activities but my favorite is automotive diagnosis and repair. I never judge anyone and I refuse to get mad for any reason.

I have a broad range of interests which seems to expand with experience. I enjoy travel, camping, golf, auto racing, body surfing in warm oceans, live thatre, the Mckenzie river for many things, exploring new things and places and more. I read every day (well almost), enjoy cooking, a good movie and growing things. My body is still in very good working order includiing my libido and brain.

I’m retired since 2002, mostly from office work, and live simply in an apartment near the river in Eugene. Working-class, with a BA in sociology. Married once and divorced, no kids, lots of nieces & nephews, family in Eugene.

Aside from information, books & video, I’m not much of a consumer. Occasionally go out to restaurants and movies, usually with someone. I like art galleries, museums, anything that is interesting and not too expensive. Seldom travel any long distance but would be interested in local travel. Don’t own a car. Walk a lot, in good health and decent physical condition for my age. My personality is quiet and thoughtful, but enjoy good conversation. Curious, interested in ideas, serious, mildly humorous, romantic, touchable, personal. Not religious but tolerant of others’ beliefs. Read a lot.

I play guitar and sing with my sister and a few friends on Sunday afternoons when we can all make it. We’re not performers, just do it for fun.

I’ve been an activist for many years, working with various groups on a variety of issues relating to peace, economic justice and the environment. Currently I’m focusing mainly on the homeless issue.

I'm open and easy to be with. I have two boys and two step daughters. Children love to be around me and that is good because I have 10 grandchildren yet I only get to see them two or three times per year because they live out of state. I've been married twice and both women have passed away. I love having a solid partner in my life, I miss that beyond words. I'm expressive and understanding. I've had many advanced classes in communication skills. I love to treat my woman like a queen, yet not above me. I understand Mars-Venus differences and respect that. I love the outdoors in all seasons. I'm used to a passionate team relationship and have been married most of my adult life. I like reading, massage, cooking, drawing, exploring new places and old, movies, bowling a little, arts, sitting by a fire, kayaking, I have a beautiful vegetable garden. i'm a general contractor and love building. I have always been faithful to my woman.
