A little about me...
I live in a small village on the mid-coast Maine in a restored cape with an attached barn.
I have a comfortable income that supports the things I like to do. Among those are sailing (I have a cruising sailboat.) Travelling (I try to take a major trip every year.) Eating out. Visiting. Plus all the other things that make life interesting and rewarding. One of my children lives near me the rest are spread out. They are very important to me but, we all have our own lives.
I like to occasionally cook but, not for myself. When I do cook I like to try Indian, or Mexican (I do make a great pork mole) or something unusual. However, I also like to grill.
I like nearly all kinds of music (but, not rap ) I have a budding interest in Opera. I like to laugh. I find humor in so many things, at times; it gets me in a little trouble.
I don’t like labels, pomposity, affectations, hidden agendas or negative attitudes. I am straight forward and want others to be the same
I like to read very much but, have eclectic reading interests. I watch television but not very much. I love movies but am selective on what I see. I like to garden but grow mostly flowers. I have on on-going fight with the groundhogs who very much like the flowers I grow

About the one I'm looking for...
I don’t smoke. And wouldn't be intertested in someone who does smoke. I do like wine or a drink. Chatting quietly with my special person over a glass of wine in the evening is one of life's gifts. I believe that each person in a relationship is entitled to some of their own time. I don’t want to control or be controlled. I want to support and care and be cared for.
I am in excellent health. I try to work out three times a week. I like to walk or hike (especially in new places). I love exploring new places. I try to eat with nutrition in mind, but, I'm not always successful
I play golf but, not well enough to take it seriously.
I hope you like museums (of all kinds) Good art galleries, an occassional flea market, historic houses and sites. And, I hope you like cats. I have two, large orange ones that mostly sit around thinking what can I do for them next.

I'd just like to add...
Now you have a few facts and, perhaps, know me a little better. Here is another part of the puzzle.
I believe that developing and nurturing a special relationship is a delicate and an on-going process that needs to be carefully tended daily. What I have learned so far (and I am still learning) is this:
Listen! Really listen. If your partner is special, listen to what she has to say.
Don’t interrupt. Think about what has been said before responding.
Don’t be defensive. Don’t start raising objections before you’ve thought about what has been said.
Don’t be accusatory…it’s not a good way to resolve differences.
If you can’t resolve something at that time, take a break. Come back later, but, do come back to the problem.
Don’t be judgmental. Hard to do at times but, important.
And sometimes, you both can look at the situation and just laugh and that’s one of the best ways to keep a relationship healthy.
Have I done all of the above successfully? Not all the time. But, I believe in them and do work on them. One final thought . Please only reply if you have a photo and profile. Enough said for now. If this sounds interesting let me know.
