A little about me...
I'm looking for a sophisticated, literate, and witty gentleman who'll appreciate my independence but also give me a shoulder to lean on. I have a busy and happy life, but having someone with whom to share those things which are sometimes just more fun with a guy would certainly enhance it. I love Southern gentlemen (i.e. men with manners), but gentlemen can come from anywhere. Ideally, he'll have a flexible schedule which would allow for spontaneous getaways, but he'd also enjoy longer trips which we've planned ahead of time. He'll be intuitive and considerate of my feelings and opinions. I hope he'll give good back rubs, too!

What will he get in return? A woman who enjoys making someone happy, whether it's cooking a great meal, carrying on an intelligent conversation, joking around, or sharing a quiet evening. About the one I'm looking for...
I'm looking for a man who's engaged in the world around him--someone who has his own interests but is supportive of mine and interested in finding things for us to enjoy together. Ideally, he'll enjoy traveling both in the US and abroad. He'll like trying new restaurants; going to movies, live theatre, and concerts; shopping; going to the farmer's market, whitewater rafting, and lots more. He'll be compassionate and tolerant. He'll recognize what needs to be done and do it without being asked.

I'd just like to add...
I'm an avid reader, though not a particularly discriminating one. Right now I'm enjoying Dorothea Benton Frank's latest and have just re-read her Folly Beach. I'm going to be spending some time there in October--love the beach in the fall. Also on my bedside table are Bella Lingua, a book about the wonderful vagaries of the Italian language, and a collection of Christopher Hitchens' essays. I enjoy cooking, but, as many of you know, cooking for one isn't a lot of fun. My most recent trip outside the US was to the British Isles this past May. I've visited England several times, but I'd love to re-visit Ireland. At this time in our lives, I think relationships can be hard work. I'd love to find someone who's worth the work!
