Snow White looking for Prince Charming. Miss Piggy looking for her Kermie. Aren’t we all looking for that special person?
I was luckier than most because I found him and we had a wonderful relationship, but I‘m widowed now and ready to move on.
I’m a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and I’ve spent most of my life working as a graphic designer. But I also taught French for a year at a private school and Art for a year at a public school in Mystic, CT. In each case I was asked to be a long-term sub because of staffing emergencies. Both jobs were great fun. In another serendipitous situation I became the director of a small educational not-for-profit agency where I worked for the last few years.
I have a lot of interests and friends, so I’m not needy, clingy, or lonely. I enjoy every day. I don’t obsess about the future because I think worrying is a silly and futile waste of time. I’ve embraced the corny saying popular with motivational speakers, to paraphrase: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is the future, but today is special, that’s why we call it – the present.” Why not enjoy every day we have left?
About the one I'm looking for...
Although I had a great husband, I’m not looking for his clone, which would be unfair to all concerned. For the next chapter, I would love to meet someone who can find laughter, joy, and happiness in each day. And when, inevitably, a day brings sorrow, we could help one another other get through it.
This special person would not take himself too seriously and would find pleasure and joy in family and friends. He would also appreciate life's small miracles and enjoy reading, music, and the arts. He’d be someone who could take off on the spur of the moment for a day trip, a ball game, or a picnic, but who would be just as content to settle down with a good book or movie.
Is there anyone in online dating land who would like to be a friend first and then see where this path will take us? If I’ve described you, I really want to be your new best friend!
I'd just like to add...
I think a great relationship is built on attraction, honesty, trust, and compatibility. And, a good sense of humor. Humor not only makes life more fun, it can defuse tense situations, and help you get through life in the best way possible.
