A little about me...
My friends say that I am rational, intelligent, easy going and have a good sense of humor that can best be described as 'smartass dry' (of course, that's why they're my friends). I get my good looks from my Norwegian ancestors. I like being around people but don't need to be around people. Having said that, being retired and not having the relationships I had at work means I now have WAY too much "alone time". I have had several great companions who were cats and I would like to have a dog. I am looking at adoption groups for a young, medium-sized dog who would like a friend to love and protect. I enjoy cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, people-watching on the beach, most music (not rap, not techno), sewing, swimming, billiards (I play a good game of 8-ball), drawing, painting, bike riding—not all in that order of preference; in fact, I just bought a 7-speed hybrid bike and am anxious to ride it when the weather is better. I would like to learn golf and also just purchased a women's left-handed set of clubs, and if those activities don't keep me busy enough, I would like to take tennis lessons again (now, where did I put my racket?) or perhaps dancing lessons.
About the one I'm looking for...
I am hoping to enjoy the next stage of life’s adventure with someone who enjoys the humorous side of life and one who knows and believes in himself while working through the inevitable challenges that come one’s way. He is willing to adapt to life’s surprises and sees the glass as half full. He is emotionally healthy and secure enough to give me space to be my own person, as I would give him. He would work to resolve rather than win arguments or conflicts that may arise in a relationship, as would I. He is an honest person and strong enough to do the right thing. He really enjoys that perfect summer day, long walks, hugs, dinner out, wine, movies at home or out, the Sunday papers and coffee along with a spirited discussion of current events.
I'd just like to add...
Daydreaming, I can see the two of us...
...you looking at travel sites for the next new place to explore, and me in the kitchen making my fantastic, addictive beef jerky using a recipe given to me many years ago by a good friend in San Francisco. Watching you brings me memories of some of my favorite experiences in Northern California, like seeing the flowers in all of the window boxes as I walked down the hill to the beach at Carmel, SCUBA diving in Monterey, salmon fishing just outside the Golden Gate, fireplace nights in Mendocino, wine tastings in Napa Valley and hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains. All of this was before I met and married my ex-husband and our son, Graham, was born and my priorities were different. Now that Graham is grown and I live alone, I can think about fishing again (now, where did I put my left-handed Penn reel?).
