A little about me...
Being in nature is very important. I love to hike and take time to smell the roses. Kayaking or canoeing is a very spiritual experience. Sitting by the ocean on a warm, sunny day is my favorite way to meditate and gain perspective. I love camping and singing around a campfire. Exploring local destinations in and beyond Portland is also a favorite pastime.
For indoor activities, I adore classical music, folk music, good jazz, and oldies. I also enjoy live theater, good film, ethnic festivals, and good wine. One of my passions is international travel. I’ve seen quite a few countries, but there are some many more to see all over the world. I speak pretty good Spanish. I’m an excellent cook and love to cook ethnic foods (Italian, Thai, French, and others) and also enjoy eating out at good restaurants with nice ambiance. I love to cook with wine (and sometimes even put some into the recipe).
I have a great (dry and irreverent) sense of humor. I’m very affectionate and romantic, and love to hold hands. I am quite a good listener, and am a very supportive friend in both good and hard times.
About the one I'm looking for...
I’m looking for a serious relationship, which may lead to marriage but that is not a requirement. I want to find someone who has the time to make our relationship a priority. Sharing some mutual interests (particularly food, wine, enjoying the outdoors and traveling) are very important, but enjoying separate interests and friendships and room to grow outside of the relationship are also important. Having said that, I am also always looking to make new friends and find more activity partners. I also believe that a good relationship should be based on a good friendship.
I'm on a quest to find my own sense of spirituality, and would love to have someone along for the journey. Mutual respect, kindness, honesty, open communication, and accepting each other as they are with no expectation of change are the most important keys to a good relationship, in my opinion.
A good sense of humor, and the ability to laugh at oneself and not take life too seriously, also make it easier to roll with the inevitable challenges of a relationship.
I'd just like to add...
I’m a pretty low maintenance person. I can be very happy cooking a nice dinner at home and dining over wine and candlelight, and then watching a comedy or romantic drama. I love to watch beautiful sunsets (but am less keen on sunrises). I am slightly overweight (maybe 10 pounds) but am committed to taking it off this summer through hiking and boating (not much for working out in a gym, I guess).
The other thing I want to mention is that I am liberal in my thinking, but am also able to see both sides of an issue, and am always up for a good intellectual discussion and honest exchange of ideas and opinions.
