A little about me...
Some things and some people get better with age. I like to think I'm one of them. I'm in relatively good physical shape (and determined to get in better shape), and my sense of humor and appreciation for life have only improved over the years. In many ways, I am a nicer person than I was when I was a “sweet young thing.” I'm a mix of intelligence and common sense. I know how to check the oil in my car's engine and the air pressure in my car's tires. And it makes me smile when I see my hybrid is getting 52 miles to the gallon. Never thought I would be a Sirius radio fan, but it turned out to be much better than I expected. I love being able to choose among a number of NPR stations or being able to listen to Doctors Radio, chill out with some spa music, tap my fingers to bluegrass or sing along with light rock. I have long loved Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.
I don't suffer fools gladly, and bigots and racists better steer a wide berth. They simply are not my kind of people. Neither, quite frankly, are people who do not enjoy having pets as part of their lives. Although I have a few friends who are avid hunters, I'd prefer those closest to me not be hunters.
About the one I'm looking for...
You know nothing is “comprised of” anything else even though the English language is constantly evolving. You enjoy holding doors open for ladies and know they appreciate it when you do. You are smart and you are funny. You can enjoy a social event that does not include alcohol even though you also enjoy a well-made martini, a nice wine or a craft beer. You may endure social events that have you rubbing elbows with pretentious people, but what you truly enjoy is spending time with people who are genuine. In your personal life, you find being part of a team is better than operating solo, and you are looking for a woman who feels the same. Pets – you know life is easier in many ways if you don't have pets, but you feel life is better if you do.
I'd just like to add...
If you don't want a serious relationship, I welcome friends. Just please be clear about your goals.
In the past year, I transitioned from working too many hours to a more manageable work schedule. Before I did that, I had little time in my life for people and activities that matter to me. I'm really enjoying what I refer to as "becoming a human being again."
