A little about me...
I didn't really grow up in Antarctica, but I couldn't manage to change the presets to Palo Alto, CA.
I wasn't sure I'd like retirement, but I love it. It's great having no particular schedule. I spent that past year building a small house, cottage really, here in McMinnville. Actually I had a contractor....I wielded no hammer except for the checkbook. I'm very happy with the result, and the deer are happy with my landscaping.
I feel that I am a very fortunate person; I've been blessed with a good family background and a wonderful education, both formal and of the world. I've traveled a lot, and that has taught me much. I'd like to do more. I'm up for it, both physically and financially, but not particularly interested in going alone.
Here's some of the things I like to do: get together with friends for dinner, go into Portland for fun events, read some of what is suggested in The Oregonian arts section, putter in my yard, try new recipes. I did a lot of volunteering when I first retired, but have tapered off lately because I found I didn't like to be held accountable for my time. I do some grant-writing for an organization I am interested in. If my interests are somewhat similar to yours, I hope you'll send me a hello.
About the one I'm looking for...
I'd like to find a gentleman friend who has similar interests and enthusiasms to mine, and I'm also open to developing new skills and talents. I'd like a partner who's willing to get into mischief with me. I don't mind living alone, and I'm not sure I want to re-marry, but I would like to have a best friend who is fun to be with and affectionate, kind, and compassionate of other people.
I'd just like to add...
I enjoy people who are articulate and use language well. I'm not crazy about judgemental folks. I suspect we are all a lot more fortunate than we ever realize. Difficult things have happened to me in my life, but I still suspect I'm way more blessed than most. I'm not religious, but I respect the great philosophies of the world. but they're not necessarily the same thing as religion.
I attend exercise and yoga classes three times a week at a women's gym here in town. I can't say I'm crazy about it, but I know it's good for me, and I enjoy the socializing.
