A little about me...
Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile. I’m a widower with a 17 year old daughter. She is a wonderful person. Kids are important to me, so they need to be important to you as well. Family is also important to me, esp. during the holidays. My favorite holiday is Christmas. I still watch A Charlie Brown Christmas and every version of Charles Dickens Christmas Carol. Love eggnog, do you?
I’m a mental health counselor working with patients in nursing homes. I’ve grown very comfortable with the elderly and learned a great deal about myself as well. It has been great for my ego. I frequently hear my 70 to 90 year old female patients telling me that I’m handsome. Please take note above that I indicated that I’m good looking. After all how can dozens of elderly females with macular degeneration be wrong? lol
My life goal is to accept the people who can’t accept themselves. Of course, my job helps me do this, but it is an important part of my personal life. There are so many folks around us who are hurting and filled with shame and they need to know that someone cares about them and their feelings.
About the one I'm looking for...
Qualities that I look for in a special woman include kindness/compassion (an absolute must), intelligence, spunk, self-respect, honesty, patience, sense of humor, playfulness, socially active, spontaneity, good communicator, and comfort in her own skin. Faithfulness is implied.
I want someone who can help me work on the lawn on a Saturday afternoon and then dress up for a nice meal and a concert at the Pavilion. I yearn to be in relationship with a strong woman who can open my eyes to new experiences and perspectives. I can be a touchy feely guy, so snuggling, public displays of affection, and massages are a must. I haven’t danced since Saturday Night Fever and Disco Duck. I would enjoy taking dance lessons. How about you?
I want someone who can speak intelligently about a wide variety of topics: Oscar nominations, politics, Phineas and Ferb (the greatest cartoon ever), how sad Pluto must feel now that it is no longer a planet, peace in the Middle East, gardening, meditation, etc. I love to read and my favorite book (and movie) is “A River Runs Through It.” I read a lot about human rights, esp China’s intentional destruction of the Tibetan people and their culture.
I'd just like to add...
I was not born with the cooking gene. I suspect that my twin sister barrowed it and forgot to give it back. Nevertheless, some of my favorite times have been spent in the kitchen with a special someone. I need a woman to teach me how to cook that you want to eat. I learn best with a hands-on approach, soft music, and laughter.
I also enjoy fly-fishing and some day want to move to the mountains, live near a trout stream. It would be a simple life, but I don't require a lot of material objects.

My Top Interests:
My addiction of choice is college football, esp. the Michigan Wolverines. I also like college basketball. I've been known to take vacation time to watch March Madness. I would like to find someone who can enjoy this part of my life.
Music is a big part of my life. I never played a musical instrument, but sang in high school. I enjoy concerts and listen to music much of the day. My favorite music includes 70s & 80s pop/rock, country, musicals, easy listening, folk, and classical. Anyone for a concert?
Religion and Spirituality
As I've grown older, I've returned to my Catholic faith. It offers me many exercises which deepen my desire to love and be love. To compliment this, I study Buddhist psychology. Originally, the Buddha taught a science of the mind, not religion.
