A little about me...
I spend my days outdoors and feel blessed for this opportunity. Listening to others gives me comfort, hearing their stories, a comfortable conversation supporting each other. I'm always eager to learn more and to discuss my thoughts with whoever is willing to join me. In general I listen more than talk, but I can be quite a lively event planner and leader.
I started my career in physics and computer science, but at some point decided to head Joseph Campbell's advice to "follow your bliss". I now live a blissful life with very little science. A life that allows me to interact with people (and horses) rather than computers.
Making this world a better place is still important to me, my basic attitude to everything I do.
My life has been to some degree marked by opposites: German culture - American culture. My two sons: one severely disabled now living in a group home, the other one brilliant and currently working on his PhD in physics. My career: first a successful scientist now a "PhD poop scoop" :-) Me: heart and brain.
About the one I'm looking for...
We would share a general life philosophy, but we would also complement each other: yin-yang. I always appreciate the male ability to solve problems rationally as complementary to my female ability to see the whole. Both perspectives together find the best solutions. Because spirituality is an important part of my life, you would probably be at least open and tolerant. I have a hard time with the two extremes - the exclusively left-brained atheist as well as the brainless fundamentalist. Spirituality - and life in general - is about using both sides of the brain plus the heart. All paths lead to God.
Behavior I like to stay away from: anger, arrogance, sarcasm (the extreme kind of sarcasm that always rejoices in putting other people down).
If you are retired and looking exclusively for a travel partner, then I'm probably not the right match for you.
I'd just like to add...
Dating at our age is different from the dating we did 30 years ago. It takes more time to get to know each other. Also, I find it helpful if both partners have their own finances worked out. We all have a lot of history, good and bad, that we bring into a new relationship. Let's hope that we have both become stronger and better through difficult experiences.
I'm amazed at the number of flirts I supposedly sent. If you receive a flirt from me, then I apologize. This is OurTime's random act. I send messages not flirts.

My Top Interests:
Nature and Outdoors
I'm outdoors all day long. That's where I can breath and feel free. I love walks and hikes just about anywhere. The beach is special, of course.
Family and Friends
I have two grown sons. The older I get the more I miss my family in Germany. My extended barn family is important to me.
Religion and Spirituality
I meditate every day and love to read serious theology (rather than spiritual) books. People who have influenced my spirituality: Carl Jung, Teilhard de Chardin, Thomas Merton, Bill Plotkin to name just a few.
