Greeting

A little about me...

Older is wiser ... I have learned much over the decades. I understand that relationships are not easy, at least, not for those of us wanting a long term partner. Another one: to be successful there must be much honesty, openness and trust ... and not least of all an ability to do the work to keep the relationship strong and fruitful for both parties. And that includes understanding with plenty of room for each to be themselves. "Perfect" partners are for dreams.
I am intelligent, active, healthy (very healthy), caring, sensitive and involved in life. I believe in life, liberty, justice, and the need to bring some value to the world. I wonder how Justice Thomas ever got on the supreme court and count the days until he's gone. I don't suffer fools gladly. I love cashews. Laughing is good (very good). I have a special attachment to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia and Canada in general having spent some really wonderful summers there growing up. I'm especially proud of my circle of long term friends. I don't mind shoveling snow.

About the one I'm looking for...
She needs to be aware of who she is and what she wants, as do I. She's been in love, perhaps been emotionally wounded, and learned lots from it. She can pick herself up, dust herself off, and charge into life again, ready for coming challenges. She loves the outdoors, doesn't smoke, drinks lightly at most, and loves life. Arts/Crafts are a good thing, boating, travel, respect for others, happy, has most of her fingers and toes, and adores nature (spring peepers, lightning bugs, the call of the loon, a light rain) music, NPR/PBS, reading, willing to communicate to keep the relationship young and lively, and has courage. OK, that was 25. Pick at least 20!

I'd just like to add...
I'm on a quest to find a soulmate to play out the last chapter (hopefully a long, long one) and in the end we're very happy to have found each other and delighted how well we worked together. It wasn't a simple and easy trip but we rose to the occasion and can be proud, as can our friends and family. Lots to share and lots to learn. A challenge that's exciting.
I am a very healthy omnivore and eat most anything ... it would be nice if you did too, but that's not a deal breaker. Smoking is. I never have and this is no time to catch up (no 2nd hand smoke).
Good things: gardening, sailing, Cape Breton, recycling, laughing, woodworking, reading (and esp. reading to one another), snuggling and playing footsie, movies, travel, hiking, rowing, laying flat on our backs and studying the heavens and sorting it all out (well, maybe not ALL), fireplaces, woodstoves, frolicking, canoeing, walking, honesty, trekking, hugging, smiling, laughing, writing, building, chuckling, winking, eating, joint cooking, trust, drawing/painting, crafts, giggling and so much more (pick 50).

Not so much: high strung, unhappy, angry, couch potato (at least not often), guns, sickly, whining, grousing, dirty looks, yelling, heavy texting, bored, ...
