A little about me...
One thing I love about being 68 is that I appreciate life now more than I ever. Eckhart Tolle and Thich Nhat Hanh help get me out of auto-pilot mode and into the present moment. What else do we have?
I have learned more about unconditional love from parenthood than anything, and I treasure my relationship with my 28-yr-old son, who lives in Boulder, and 31-yr-old daughter, who lives in Australia. When my children's father and I divorced, we healed from the split by becoming best friends. We continued doing things together as a family, even when I was in a new relationship. When you create children together, the bond of love is powerful. I wish my ex (who died in 2005) could have seen his daughter get married in February, and his son in June. I am so happy that both of my children have found fulfilling relationships.
When I was fifteen, I fell in love with French, majored in it in college and grad school, and taught it for almost 30 years. My other loves are music (especially classical), reading, gardening, meditation, sewing, travel, Scrabble, animals, and walks or hikes in nature. I watch MSNBC, Bill Maher, Bill Moyers, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert. I also enjoy movies, especially foreign films, and documentaries.
About the one I'm looking for...
Honesty is critically important. Partners must have enough trust to become vulnerable since true intimacy is not possible without that kind of openness. It would be wonderful to find a partner who can share thoughts and feelings on a profound level, but also laugh at himself, me, and the ironies of life (a la Stephen Colbert). Sensuality and touching are very important to me. I have a lifestyle that respects the planet and I would expect that in a partner as well. I love quiet time and enjoy silence with my beloved (e.g. reading side by side) as much as anything. When I become fully retired, I'd like to travel more, and that's always more fun when shared.
I'd just like to add...
There has to be chemistry! Attraction is the fuel that starts the whole thing and keeps it running, and it obviously involves much more than mere physical attraction.

My Top Interests:
Nature and Outdoors
There is nothing more restorative and nourishing to one's soul and health than time spent in the beauty of nature. The majesty and the harmony of the natural world inspire us to be more in touch with our own inner silence.
Family and Friends
The greatest blessings in my life are the ongoing connections I have with my 97-year-old father, my three siblings who live close by, my two grown children, and some very dear friends, three of whom go back to first grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Conifer. Friends and family "see" you and accept you unconditionally, and that feeling of not being judged enables you to grow, face your shortcomings honestly, and evolve in their loving embrace.
What a way to enter other realities and shake up one's viewpoints. I have a season pass to the International Film Series on campus and catch some great films at Boulder's Boedecker Theatre. I recently saw one of the best movies ever, "The Polish Bride"; if you haven't seen it, try to. It's only available through Netflix.
