A little about me...
I'm a cheerful, out-going woman who loves nature, gardening and writing poetry. I like good conversations with friends over a yummy meal! I enjoy the YMCA, live music, and local theater. I do have women friends, but am definitely interested in a man for a long-term companion. We could enjoy retreats to places of interest to us both! I do love to travel, enjoying new places as well as familial ones.
Singing is important to me, everything from songs in the musicals to Ella Fitzgerald, and folksingers like Peter, Paul, and Mary -songs with a message about living more fully. It is fun to sing with friends, but sing-a-longs aren't a must!
I enjoy new and old friends. If it sounds like we could have fun together, please contact me and we'll go from there!
About the one I'm looking for...
I like someone kind, honest, patient, and affectionate. I take pride in my healthy lifestyle, and would like my partner to share this value. I feel as though compatibility in shared interests is important so that we can grow together. Dealing with change creatively is part of being resilient as we age, and good communication skills help us appreciate and understand one another better. Open, honest communication is key to building a long-lasting relationship. I value intelligence along with playfulness and curiosity about life in general. An optimistic attitude helps us all age more gracefully!
I'd just like to add...
I enjoy learning from movies, theater, classes, workshops and retreats in a natural setting--comfort is important, as I do have some physical limitations. I love many kinds of music, from classical to jazz and folk. My son Jeff plays bass, so it's great to listen to him and his bands play live. My two daughters live in California and Chile. My younger son & his wife have two daughters so I am a Grandma!
I am enjoying OLLI classes on learning about relationships through films, and another on The American Songbook.
I enjoy sharing adventures with friends, but cannot be the risk-taker I was in my youth when down-hill skiing was our main weekend activity; age makes one more selective about what works without overdoing it!

My Top Interests:
Nature and Outdoors
I feel revitalized in nature, and get real cabin-fever being indoors too much. I love state and national parks, and exploring lovely areas that haven't been too destroyed by over-crowded conditions. I lived 13 years in Canada, and despite the cold, the Rockies are truly awesome there. I love to swim, but not in super cold lakes or rivers!
Music of many kinds is a lifeline for me, from classical to Beatles to Broadway to jazz. I enjoy singing, and love the folk music of the sixties. I enjoy live performances as well as PBS specials. Both my sons are very musical, so it's fun to listen to them perform!
Religion and Spirituality
Often my spirituality comes out in poetry, and I write frequently in a journal called Rhythms of Peace. I don't think any one religion has all the answers; I honor diversity, and each person finding how Spirit best speaks to him or her. In my family, mountains and forests were God's sanctuary, not churches. I am pretty open-minded, and find Buddhist teachings offer a lot of practical wisdom.
