A little about me...
I'm a cheerful, out-going woman who loves the outdoors, gardening, swimming, walks in nature, writing poetry, watching PBS, and good conversations with friends over a yummy meal! I enjoy writing, painting, flower arranging, making collage art, and creating healthy meals (especially with a friend). I enjoy the l YMCA, local theater, and Tai Chi again .I love retreats where we have time to relax, enjoy healthy meals, have interesting activities and time to get to know one another. So far these have been with women from 60-92; I do have women friends, but I am definitely interested in a man for a long-term companion. We could enjoy Road Scholar retreats to places of interest to us both! I also love to travel, enjoying new places as well as familial ones. I'd love to travel by camper, with our own bed and kitchen area when we hit camping sites, as well as enjoying a hot tub and great food in a comfortable motel setting.
Singing is important to me, everything from songs in the musicals to Carole King, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, and folksingers like Peter, Paul, and Mary-songs with a message about living more fully, from gospel to the Beatles. It would be fun to sing along with a best friend!
About the one I'm looking for...
I like someone kind, honest, generous, affectionate and willing to articulate what he needs/wants so we can build a friendship where trust & committing to agreements are core for both of us. Friendship is having fun getting to know one another, and I am open to it becoming a serious committed relationship if that works for us both. It is important that he has a healthy lifestyle, as that is a big priority for me too. Great if he loves to dance, like fox-trot, swing, waltz, or free-form dancing. Compatibility with some shared interests so we can learn and grow together is important, and we'll have interests that we don't share, too. Letting go patterns from our youth that don't work for us now seem to be "up" in this third chapter of our lives. Dealing with change creatively is part of being resilient as we age, and good communication skills help us appreciate and understand one another better. I value honesty, loyalty, openness, good conversation and intelligence along with playfulness and curiosity about life in general.
I'd just like to add...
I enjoy learning from movies, theater, classes, workshops and retreats in a natural setting--comfort is important, as I do have some physical challenges. I love many kinds of music, from classical to jazz and folk. My son plays bass, so it's great to listen to him and his bands live; my daughters live in LA and Santiago, Chile. My younger son & his wife had a baby in Sept. 2010, and a second daughter Eliza this last July, so I am a Grandma!
I have a hamster now, as I found keeping a cat indoors too hard for me. Swimming at the Y, dancing, tai chi, and walking are favorite sports, and I enjoy car/RV travel to coast or mountain sites. I am enjoying OLLI classes on learning about relationships through films, and another on Chi Gong. I enjoy sharing adventures with friends, but cannot be the risk-taker I was in my youth when down-hill skiing was our main weekend activity; age makes one more selective about what works without overdoing it!
