A little about me...

Retired (3 years ago) math prof . Spiritual practice at the center of my life. Jnani Das, my spiritual name, means lover of wisdom, aka knowledge-junkie! Love people -- pot lucks, music, dancing, deep conversations. Write poetry and read voraciously. Favorite activity: walking and talking. Lot of records from the 60s, and a record player. Lived on a commune, studied with Allen Ginsberg and other beat poets. Just an old dharma bum hippie, who got a PhD in mathematical physics to pay the bills.
After retiring, let myself "lay fallow" for a while. Two big projects emerged: 1) I am typing up 40+ years of my journals. Not sure what I'll do with them -- maybe a memoir? study my dreams? But even the process of going through them has been transformative. 2) I began helping friends homeschool their children, especially in math, and decided to build a one-room schoolhouse on their land, with a chunk of my savings.
Also, my mother died in May, 2015, and this has changed my life in profound ways. There are many gifts she left me that I am just beginning to "unwr
