A little about me...
My life experiences, my education, my career, my accomplishments in life are not unique, but I think they are not typical.
I was an athlete (lettered in football, basketball, baseball, track, and cross country in high school).
I was also the most popular senior, a member of the Beta Club, a class president twice, a school newspaper journalist, and a debate club member.
I was a three sport scholarship athlete in college, a member of the most popular fraternity on campus, and two-time Harvard summer fellowship winner while an undergraduate student in KY.
After college, I worked for an insurance company, and received training in Boston, Atlanta, and Tampa.
In 1966 I joined the Navy and served for almost eight years. Half of that time was overseas.
I was stationed in Florida, California, and Honolulu. In those years, I traveled all over the U. S., earned a masters degree from the U. of Hawaii, and saw much of the Pacific Rim.
After my discharge, I won a fellowship and completed my PhD at the U of Kentucky.
I have taught in high school, and at the university level. Despite my academic training and background, my feet are firmly planted on the ground. If you equate PHD with stuffy, you are in for a surprise.
About the one I'm looking for...
What do I want in my partner for life?
I believe relationships form day by day, and I want to approach our time together from that perspective. I want a good friend, and companion first!
The rest will flow from that, so let's just take it day by day!
Your past is yours, and mine is mine! If we become a couple it will no doubt be influenced by our past lives. But, I want our time together to be the yard stick for our success, not what happened to you or me before we met!
If you have pain, and talking will help I am all for that! However, I want to build on the present, not the past.
We all need our own time and space. I understand that. I also know that you either want time together, or you do not! By definition, time apart is not time together; so which is it that you really want?
What do I want in my idealized view of Ms. Right?
I do appreciate a woman with a sense of purpose in life. Someone who is clear about what they want to do with their time, both vocationally and in their private life. All I really need and want is to be an important part of it!
I appreciate a woman with a sense of humor. I certainly have one, albeit a bit on the "dry side"!
I'd just like to add...
After my academic career, I started, grew, and profitably sold six different businesses. Today, I still consult, teach, and write professionally.
I am proud of what I have done in my life academically, and in business, but I learned a long time ago not to take all of that too seriously.
On a more personal note, I have lived in Louisville, KY most of my life. I now live across the river from downtown Louisville in a 7th Floor river view condo.
I have two grown children. My daughter is 42, and my son is 39. Both my parents are deceased. I have one sister in North Carolina.
I divorced in 1994. I have dated, but not remarried.
My second single life has included three relationships of at least five or more years. The last one ended in 2008. All were sweet in their own unique way!
Most of my single life involved a significant other! So, Internet dating is new to me. Be patient with the newcomer, I am not yet an "expert".
I want a woman who wants to feel excitement and passion about our relationship. I want my voice to create "goose bumps" every time she hears it, and vice versa.
I want a chance to see if we can make the sparks fly!
