A little about me...
I like my life. It isn't always easy, but it's chock full of good stuff worth remembering. I have a family I love, grandchildren to hug, and dogs to pet. I got my education as a single parent with three small children. By the time I put myself through three degrees, it was time for them to go to college. My career is in education, and I am mostly retired, for now. But I miss my job. As you can see, I work hard and probably expect too much from myself -- never know when to quit. But if you're still reading, I should say that, for all my independence, I am a profoundly traditional woman, an intensely feminine woman who really appreciates male-female differences. I like girl stuff -- manicures and pedicures and my hair on my back and shoulders. I like movies and concerts and symphonies and outdoor down-home bands. And I love to dance! I like travel and staying home. And I really appreciate men.
About the one I'm looking for...
I'm looking for an essential maleness -- strength in head, heart, hands. I like men who can think rationally, feel deeply, climb mountains, split wood, and take charge. I like men who read books, appreciate the arts -- and who are introspective enough to appreciate what words and pictures and films and music have to do with us. Actually, I really like all kinds of men. But sometimes I want the Medieval Period, Knights in Shining Armor, NFL football. A man with a strong sense of "self" is just fine with me. He can be strong, but gentle. I'm not interested in a man who can be pushed around, but I'd like him to care about what I think and what I feel. I'd like to see that in his eyes. I don't need a man to support me, but I'd like him to let me lean sometimes, and take care of me. Most of all, I want intimacy. One of my favorite poets, Diane Wakoski, says it best: "How can I then make a poem for you? Whose skillful hands could make expert blueprints of all my bones. There is no need of a bridge between us. We sleep on the same side of the bed." In a man, I'm looking for that.
I'd just like to add...

My Top Interests:
Family and Friends
I am an extrovert -- fun-loving, gregarious, and I love people. I recently moved to Colorado to be close to some of my family -- my two daughters (I also have a son) and five of my grandchildren. My career, which I profoundly miss, also focused on people. I know how to work a room. The magic comes from genuinely caring about people. I love public speaking: give me a microphone and you make me a happy woman. I can charm the socks off an audience, and I don't need notes to keep me on track..
Nature and Outdoors
My ideal place to live would be a cabin in the mountains. I recently moved back to Colorado, and I can't wait to get back up there! Right now my hiking consists of walking my dachsies (I love dogs!). I used to fly fish -- snagged my line a lot, caught some bushes, and once even a 12-inch brown trout (I saved my lucky fly). I have camped across Europe -- the cliffs of Spain; in Italy, by the Tyrrhenian Sea; along the Costa del Sol; in France, sipping cheap, good red wine in my tent at night.
In Nature and Outdoors I talked about my 3-month camping trip across Europe. My travels have brought deep memories and learning experiences to my life. My favorite adventure was Thailand, where I traveled with16 friends from the beaches of Phuket, through
Bangkok, through the northern mouintains to Myanmar. I also loved China, the sandstorms in Beijing, the bicycles loaded house-high with towers of goods, picking their way through the crowded streets and snarly traffic in Shanghai.
