A little about me...
I love getting out and seeing what's out there around me - traveling, whether it's a day-trip or to Asia or the Caribbean. I love to scuba dive (although it's in warmer water these days ;-) and I'd love to learn to sail. I love to learn new things and I'm reasonably adventurous - although jumping out of a perfectly good plane is beyond what I'm willing to do - but if you want to - feel free. I'll cheer you on! I love to laugh, to bake, to read, to explore and just spend time with my guy (and I'm that rare woman who actually enjoys watching a Pats game!).
I have 2 cats - but consider myself a "furry animal" person - I grew up with dogs and just adore them. So bonus if you have one (and extra bonus if it's a big dog :-).
Favorite local places include Martha's Vineyard (OMG - talk about relaxing!), Jamestown, the North Shore of Mass, Beavertail, Gloucester, Plymouth - pretty much anywhere with history and ocean (although history OR ocean are fine, too - I love both!)
Hobbies (other than scuba) include photography, spinning (yarn - yup, with a wheel and everything!), singing with an folk/rock band, and camping. Plus I enjoy the occasional kayaking trip, biking on the bike paths and hike (but not hard-core - sorry!).
About the one I'm looking for...
I'm looking for someone who's honest - both with themselves and with others, who can make me laugh, (important!) who's willing to face their baggage and let it go (hey - we've all got it by now!) and who knows how to use his brain. I want a man who's my best friend first, and then my lover - someone who brings out the best in me and lets me to bring out the best in him. Be willing to travel - even if it's on a day trip or a long weekend - but also be happy to come home. I love anyone who has a passion - even if I don't share it per se, I understand and support people having activities and interests they're passionate about. My guy should understand balance between up-time and down-time. You should be OK with quiet evenings watching a movie on the sofa, but that shouldn't be your default - couch potatoes are boring! But neither am I looking to be constantly scheduled - it's exhausting to always be on the run - it's about striking a balance. :-)
Financial stability is an absolute must and no smokers, please. Please have a photo - I do, so it's only fair!
I absolutely believe you're out there - I have many friends and family who've found that "right one" (some online!) and I know that mine has to be out there, too.
I'd just like to add...
I'm looking for a man who's looking for a stable base of compatibility in a relationship - how well do we get along? Do we want to talk and/or see each other every day? Do we make each other laugh? Is there a genuine friendship and caring for each other at the base of the relationship? Because I believe if that's there, then we'll always treat each other with respect, kindness and a concern for each other's happiness.
For me, attraction is sparked by feeling a connection to the person - so if we really connect, the romance WILL be there. I'm looking for a man with a real values and ethics as well as a kind and generous heart - and I'm not talking necessarily about generosity with money - generosity with your time and spirit is really more important. I'm looking for a man with an open heart - if you keep your heart closed off, how can you be in a relationship?
Bonus points for anyone who spends a lot of time on or near the water - divers, sailors, boaters, and/or fishermen - but not absolutely necessary :-).

My Top Interests:
I love to travel - I find that it opens my mind to new experiences and people and helps me to understand why people are the way they are. My favorite trip so far has been to Thailand - second favorite is Roatan, Honduras. I'd love to go to Europe, but I also enjoy trips exploring New England - we live in a really beautiful area with an amazing amount to offer. Of local vacation spots, I think my favorite is Martha's Vineyard - something for everyone and incredibly relaxing and peaceful. :sigh:
Nature and Outdoors
I get a real sense of peace and grounding when I spend time outdoors. I love camping (in a tent, but by car ;-) and try to go every year at least once. I also love to hike - just getting out far enough away from roads to not hear road noise feels wonderful! I had a tough time choosing between this and fitness, because I love working out, too - but I can work out in the outdoors, so this is how I chose.
Crafts and Creating
OK - this is one that's truly just "me." I recently learned to spin (yarn), which is something I've wanted to do since I was a small child. I'm fascinated by just doing it. I don't expect my significant other to be passionate about spinning - although I know a number of men who are - but hey - I'm being honest about who I am here - and this is one of my passions. :-) But it was hard to choose, since others are scuba, reading, travel, family, and just living!
